The Constitutionalist Party Of Iran (CPI)

March 30, 2005

To: Mr. Wolf Blitzer
CNN program

Subject: Mr. Javad Zarif’s interview on March 27, 2005

Dear Mr. Blitzer,

On behalf of the Constitutionalist Party of Iran, I would like to draw your attention to few points in regards to your interview with the Islamic Republic’s ambassador to the UN, Mr. Javad Zarif on Sunday March 27, 2005. We believe that it is important to take these points in mind when interviewing Islamic Republic’s officials.

1) Islamic regime’s official policy is to undermine America’s interest and security in the region even if it is to the detriment of the Iranian people’s national interests and have made no secret of their desire to destroy the state of Israel. Hezbollah was created and financed by the Islamic regime in Iran inline with that very policy. The sole purpose of Hezbollah in Lebanon is to undermining Israeli’s security and U.S. policies in the region. The evidence for its terrorist activities is overwhelming.
2) The Revolutionary Guards control the atomic program in Iran and it is for military purposes. The civilian side of the program is just a convenient cover for the military use of the program.
3) Although we believe that it is the inalienable right of the every nation to acquire any scientific knowledge and technology and use it for peaceful purposes. The international community shall not extend the same right to all types of regimes. A regime like the Islamic Republic in Iran that has supported international terrorism ever since its inception, has consistently called for the destruction of the sovereign nation of Israel, has been repeatedly condemned by the international community for violating the Human rights of the Iranian people and whose officials speak casually of annihilation of millions of people has striped itself of the right to acquire certain technologies that can be used for military purposes.
4) The danger with the nuclear issue in Iran is not the technology or the scientific knowledge but with the nature of the regime controlling it. We at the Constitutionalist Party of Iran believe that the international community should take the same position.
5) It is in the interest of the international community and the free world to support the democratic aspirations of the Iranian people for a regime change in Iran brought about by an internationally monitored referendum. Iranian people want a democratic regime representing their desire for a peaceful, progressive and democratic coexistence with other nations. The international community must support the aspirations of the Iranian people and not the aspirations of a terrorist regime that is not the representative of the Iranian people.

We would like to thank you in advance for your attention to these issues and urge you to bring them up in your programs.

Respectfully yours,

Shayan Arya
