Akbar Mohammadi, one of the leaders of the Student Movement lost his life whilst on hunger strike, after going through a lengthy ordeal and many years of imprisonment. The reports confirm that instead of receiving medical treatment for his ill health, Mohammadi was severely kicked and beaten up, then murdered. Mohammadi who never gave in, paid the price for his stubbornness by loosing his life and the Islamic regime that is already deeply covered with the shame of tens of thousands of crimes is now disgraced for yet another unlawful act.
Murdering Akbar Mohammadi inside prison shows the degree of the hatred of the regime towards the Student Movement and how threatened they are by it. Eight years after the ‘18th Tir’ they are still pursuing to take revenge from the heads and the activists of this Movement; they kill Akbar Mohammadi inside prison and throw Ahmad Batebi into jail for no legitimate reason. For a regime that eighteen years ago executed thousands of prisoners and even abducted from their homes those who had already been released from prison only to send them to be assassinated, such crimes are rather spoken for, however the international community should not get used to this. The Islamic Republic is on the verge of entering yet another phase of an even stricter all-over suppression and this should not be over-shadowed by the atomic crisis or the war in Lebanon.
